THE EVENT

The Amphi Festival 2013 will open on Friday 19.07.2013 with an exclusive event aboard the “MS RheinEnergie”, Europe´s biggest and most sophisticated domestic event ship.

This special opening event features a programme with 3 live-acts of the Amphi Festival 2013, performing unique sets they never played before or which deviate from their regular festival setlists. The concerts will be performed while the ship cruises along the shorelines of the Rhine. After the live-shows, the ship returns to the boarding bridge around midnight, while an exclusive after-show party on board rounds up the evening.

The opening event “Call The Ship To Port” is a part of the new “Amphi Festival Premium Box Set”, limited to 1111 units.

THE SHIP

The “MS RheinEnergie” picked up service in 2004. It is the biggest and most impressive vessel, owned by the “Köln-Düsseldorfer” Rhine shipping society. Among many high profile events, it is known best for being selected by Pope Benedict XVI., providing his stage during the blessing ceremonies of the world youth day in 2005.

The huge catamaran is more than 90 meters long, 19 meters wide and consists of a main-, upper- and open-deck with room for up to 1650 people. Inside the big hall, located on the main-deck, you´ll find the well-scaled center stage (app 40m²), equipped with a modern PA/lighting system, which opens unparalleled possibilities for live shows on a domestic ship.

The stylishly crafted upper-deck offers perfect view on the stage and waits up with sitting places on the window side providing a nice outlook on the river shores. In addition to that the open-deck allows you to enjoy the spirit of the evening and the unforgettable atmosphere of the Rhine.

In addition to that passengers with handicaps are able to enter and move aboard the MS RheinEnergie without barriers, including a lift at the bow.

THE ARTISTS

Starting the evening, pianist Lars Arnold, also known as CLASSIC & DEPECHE, will interpret well-known Depeche Mode hits in a classic outfit.

Subsequently our broadcasting station WELLE: ERDBALL is going to conquer the stage with a special transmission, called „Throwback Minimal C=64 – A journey to the beginning”. In celebration of their 20th band anniversary, H.O.N.E.Y. and A.L.F. will perform a special selection of early works, you will only hear that night on the MS RHEINENERGIE.

While WELLE: ERDBALL also play a festival set at the Tanzbrunnen over the course of the weekend, we have another awesome act, confirmed only to play on the ship.

Like nobody else in the electronic music genre, COVENANT know how to seamlessly combine modern beats with an elegant sound-design. With their major hit „Call The Ships To Port“, for example, they created a masterpiece which soon became mandatory for every successful party playlist. Inspired by this song, it is our great honor to have won the band around the charismatic Eskil Simonsson exclusively (!) for our “maiden voyage” on 19.07.2013 with the MS RHEINERGIE.

CHECK-IN (WRISTBANDEXCHANGE / T-SHIRTS)

The premium pass, included in your box is only valid for the opening event “Call The Ship To Port” on 19.07.2013 aboard the MS RheinEnergie. Along with the premium-pass you will need a separate wristband for admittance!

Please visit the “CHECK-IN” desk, located at the box-office of the Tanzbrunnen (Rheinparkweg 1) and present your premium pass there, to receive your admittance wristband for the ship and your special event-shirt.

If you want, you can also redeem your Amphi Festival Ticket, as included in the box-set, here and get your festival wristband for the rest of the weekend.

Opening hours: the “CHECK-IN” will be open on 19.07.2013 from 14:00 o’clock till 18:00 o’clock.

BOARDING / DEPARTURE

Our boarding bridge is located at the “Kennedyufer”, approximately 250 meters from Tanzbrunnen´s box office, heading towards “Deutzer Brücke”.

Before any passengers enter the ship, there will be a standard bag check, looking for unapproved items. Please arrive at the boarding bridge until 19:00 o’clock at the very latest.
The ship will depart at 20:00 o’clock.

Take care to be at the boarding bridge in time. As soon as the ship leaves there will be no further opportunity to get on board. The ship will not wait for late arrivals. In case you missed the ship, there will be no reimbursement of the ticket-price!

PARKING SPACE

From Friday, 19.07.2013, 12:00 o’clock you can use the free parking spaces of the KölnMesse. Please follow the instructions of the local traffic guidance system and the parking stewards.

BAG CHECK

At 18:30 o’clock the security will start checking passenger´s bags. The known rules for the Amphi Festival (like e.g. no beverages, food, weapons, pyros, pets, video- and audioequipment…) also apply to the opening event aboard the ship. A STATEMENT CONCERNING SECURITY ON BOARD

During the event security personnel and medical assistants will be on board in case of an emergency. The MS RheinEnergie has a sophisticated fencing (railing), that meets the official standards of passenger transportation on domestic ships. Yet, we ask you to pay respect to the situation of being on a motorship, cruising along the river. Strictly avoid climbing on / over the railing. A ship is a conceivably inappropriate place for testing your courage. This concerns particularly the open-deck. Sliding off the railing may have life-threatening consequences!

All of us wish to celebrate a wonderful event without losing people for kicks or having to fish someone out of the Rhine. If you notice someone who tries to climb the railing, please call the security immediately.
